The way I work
First
Before anyone touches the code, I say out loud what can go wrong. Migrations, cryptography, identity, debt — the danger is usually quieter than the ticket. Once the risk has a name, the team stops guessing and starts choosing.
In practice
Moving Jack's Flight Club off WordPress started with a map of what could break, not a new framework.
Then
I don't rewrite the world in a sprint. I find the smallest move that leaves the system runnable, reviewable, and reversible — then the next one.

The Identus SDKs ship in TypeScript, Swift, and JVM because the shared crypto core moved first, in Rust and Kotlin.
After
When I step away, the docs, the owners, and the next engineer already know where to stand. Maintenance is part of the work, not a favour after the launch.
